How do we control support costs? This depends on whether we are assisting a large client with existing support, or if we are engaged prior to a procurement cycle, with the latter realizing the greatest of benefits in deep cost reductions, to both Net License & Support.
We should also note one thing we never do is advise a client to conduct a “cancel and recapitalization,” or cancel support, terminate all licenses owned, then repurchase the same licenses net-new, thus significantly lowering the support cost. If a consultant suggests this and claims Oracle® can do nothing, offer the consultant 3x their fee to it for you. That will save you time and a headache.
Our Flagship Service, Active Cycle Procurement™ takes a client’s lowest negotiated net license and we restructure the same deal. Typically the size of a deal where we can have the most impact, is between $800,000 to $5MM+. An average size Client purchase is between $2MM-$4MM, where a client has negotiated a 60-80% discount.
